Project Corporate Project Management Office (CPMO)
Challenge To develop, document and implement the standard project management processes that are required in a corporate project office environment, and to assist in the implementation of these processes throughout BellSouth Telecommunications.
Solution

PMT staff worked with all major divisions within BellSouth to develop project management standards for the Corporate Project Management Office, which were based upon the nine project management knowledge areas of The Project Management Institute. In addition to the standard processes, PMT staff were involved in establishing training standards and communications tools for the deployment of these processes through the BellSouth Intranet and for establishing a Lessons Learned repository for completed projects. The methodology that was developed as a result of this effort was implemented across BellSouth Telecommunications, with proven results of bringing projects in on-time and on-budget.
