To coordinate the removal, transport and the installation
of all trunking, circuits and equipment for the operating
NOC, with minimal downtime. Also to establish a detailed
schedule for multiple installation teams, including the
coordination of all circuit vendors for pre-testing, disconnects
and turn-up of Frame Relay and ATM protocols. |
| Solution |
PMT staff, as a member of the Lucent Technologies
team, supplied on-site project management resources
to assist in developing the project scope and implementing
the plan to relocate in nine weeks. This included assessment
of the project status, developing project plans, reporting
status to 3Com management and providing technical expertise.
Customized equipment layout drawings and cut sheets
were designed for the overall success of this project.
Team planning meetings were vital for documenting and
assigning critical tasks to individuals for resolution.
PMT staff were engaged during the later states of the
project, which was 3 months behind schedule, to develop
a recovery plan and manage the project to an on-time
completion. As a result, the NOC was successfully relocated
on-time with no disruption to 3Com operations.
