PMT staff, under the direction of Lucent Technologies, successfully implemented systematic pre-migration system architecture documentation, planned and documented the new architecture using FIDI technology and executed the backup, shutdown, de-installation, move and reinstallation of the Data Center in three phases. Working closely with Scientific Atlanta, PMTs’ efforts included the removal, transport and installation of all communication line connectivity, circuits and equipment. The near-term goal of Scientific Atlanta was to vacate costly leased space and benefit from the savings and synergies associated with relocating the Data Center into their existing campus. PMT staff successfully completed the project on-time and with minimal impact to daily operations. PMT staff also assisted by restructuring vendor contracts resulting in a 50% cost reduction.
